The crazy Aurora of 17th March. For the first time this solar cycle the KP index reached level 9 (Scale of Aurora activity from 0-9). Luck was with me as it had been cloudy and stormy for weeks. Skies cleared up, wind died down and the Aurora was blazing. Never seen so many colors. Purple, red, green, pink and a hint of blue. This Solar storm seems to have created the right conditions for all these rare colors to pop out. It is Ionized Nitrogen that creates the rare blue color. I guess it take more energetic particles to get it to glow. via 500px orvaratli http://ift.tt/1CzNA6B

Just your typical Tuesday
Second image processed :) This one is up on the hill looking back down towards Kirkjufell with Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall in the foreground. Waterfall, mountain, snow, blood red aurora - I really couldn't have asked for more! It's another 12 shot multi row panoramic so this photo is absolutely huge! There's another little photographer just poking out to the bottom right of the image to give you a sense of scale :) Thanks so much for all the kind words, shares and likes on my last image! It really is hugely appreciated! I really really love showing people how amazingly beautiful our little planet is! Much love :D Instagram @ed_norton or Follow me on facebook for further updates :) http://ift.tt/1eonW3x via 500px EdNorton http://ift.tt/1EzprMn
